@ihavenomicrophone: EXPLANATION INCASE YOU'RE UNFAMILIAR WITH OUTLAST (major spoilers for Outlast 1) So basically what you need to know is Mount Massive Asylum is an awful messed up psychiatric hospital run by the evil Murkoff corporation. They have a history of performing extremely unethical experiments on patients. Mount Massive Asylum was the site they used to test and develop the Morphogenic Engine. Which is this tool that was initially developed by Nazi Germany for use in wars, but Murkoff took over development post-war. The exact details of how it works are unclear, but it allows patients to 'control sentient nano-swarms through lucid dream states' (Outlast wiki). These swarms are dubbed Walriders. For this to occur, though, the patient must be on the verge of complete madness and the Mount Massive staff subject patients to "therapy" sessions intended to induce the extreme mental states needed to control the Walrider. The footage in the background of slide 6 is the morphogenic "trigger video", supposedly used in these "therapy" sessions.
