CIA lead Adviclsed LBJ to dismiss Westmoreland request for 200k troops to secure Ho Chi Mihn trail. thats when it became clear to my Dad, a Marine fight VC, that DC has no real intention of winning and saving South Vietnam. They assassinated JFK for this reason.
