Shepherds move their flocks seasonally from meadow to meadow. Spring blossom triggers the honey production on which beekeepers depend. They have lived this way for centuries. These traditional livelihood practices are governed by the seasons, and are beneficial to nature. Rotational grazing of sheep improves soil health and allows wildflower meadows to thrive. Healthy beehives provide the pollinators that underpin the healthy ecosystems essential for biodiversity. Small-scale cheese production using milk sourced from their own livestock provides the community with a sustainable source of income.
