@talktomeinkorean: Have you ever heard of the "Perilla Leaf Debate" (깻잎논쟁)? Imagine you, your partner, and your friend are having dinner. Your friend is struggling to separate a single, sticky perilla leaf from the side dish stack. Your partner notices and uses their chopsticks to hold down the rest of the stack so your friend can grab just one. Is this a sweet act of polite table manners, or a major relationship red flag? In Korea, Team Polite says it's just being helpful, while Team Jealousy argues that using chopsticks on the same plate shows too much intimacy and crosses a boundary. Where do you draw the line? Drop your thoughts in the comments! ##koreanlanguage #lifeinkorea #livinginkorea #datinginkorea
It's about the level of care and interest. Also the level of ignorance of the person eating perilla leaves.

From what I’m understanding, it about the intent. But in all fairness helping someone isn’t that crazy, they’re acting like this person is being crass or something. I think jealousy is okay to an extent, but with this type of situation it’s borderline obsessive and seems like you don’t trust your friends or even your partner.
