Privilege is inherently threatening and it doesn’t matter if the privileged are consciously aware of it or not in order to learn how, when, where, etc. to make those threats and keep the oppressed "in their place."

Like the time I very calmly and gently told a coworker I felt like something he said was a microaggression and he screamed "FUCK YOU!" and stormed out. Then we all had to attend conflict training that only told us avoiding conflict was bad.

In my culture, we don't just look at what is said. We also look at what is silenced and what is implied. This is what we mean by inversion. Inversion is not simply the opposite of what is said. It is the meaning that can emerge through what is said, what is silenced, and how it is interpreted. For example, when someone says “free,” some people may hear “death to the other.” When someone says “the right to exist,” it can be interpreted as implying someone else's right not to exist. So inversion is also found in silence. What is not said can become part of what is understood. whoever controls the inversion is whoever in power! a lot of people are not aware what we call unconscious is actually the silence of what you said. interesting conversation to have.
