The shooting happened around 8 p.m. September 16 along Lowell Lane. According to Hilliard Police Chief Michael Woods, officers were attempting to arrest the man when he allegedly pulled out a gun during a conversation. An officer then drew their weapon and fired at least one shot. The man was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition. No officers were injured. The arrest stemmed from a public indecency investigation. Police say the warrant was connected to an incident inside a grocery store on September 11. After several days of investigation, officers identified the suspect and went to serve the warrant Wednesday night. Chief Woods said the man is currently facing public indecency charges, with the possibility of additional charges. A rare occurrence for Hilliard police. Officials said this was the first time in several years that a Hilliard police officer had to discharge their firearm at a suspect.
