Elizabeth Siders is one of four family members charged with at least 16 counts of child endangerment. Investigators said 16 children in the family’s Hamden home did not attend school, could not read or write, and that some were near death when investigators found them living in a 12-by-12 room on June 30. During Wednesday's court appearance, Siders pleaded not guilty to all counts, and her bond was doubled from $250,000 to $500,000. Siders and her husband, Gary Siders Jr., also have been indicted in a separate sex crime case.
