When Nothing Feels Meaningful There is a strange kind of emptiness that doesn't look like sadness. You can still laugh. You can still talk to people. You can still go outside, listen to music, watch something before bed. Nothing is necessarily wrong. And yet, somewhere inside, there is a question you can't seem to answer anymore: “What am I doing all of this for?” You wake up because you have to. You work because you have to. A message from someone you love doesn't give you the feeling it used to. You aren't necessarily asking for everything to become perfect. You just want to feel something again. Anything. A reason to wake up and think, “I'm glad I'm here.” But maybe meaning isn't something you're supposed to find once and keep forever. Maybe it changes. Maybe the thing that mattered to you five years ago was only meant to carry you through those five years. And when it stops being enough, that doesn't mean you failed. It means you're changing. Sometimes you lose the old reason before you discover a new one. And that space between them can feel incredibly empty. But empty doesn't always mean finished. Sometimes it simply means there is room for something you haven't found yet. You don't need to figure it out tonight. You don't need to suddenly discover your purpose. For now, maybe it's enough to find one small thing that makes tomorrow slightly worth reaching. A conversation. A walk. A song. A stupid little goal. A place you've never seen. Someone you haven't met yet. Even curiosity can be enough. I wonder what happens next. Sometimes that's all the meaning you need for one more day. And maybe, slowly, those small reasons begin connecting. One becomes two. Two become ten. And one ordinary morning, you realize you aren't just surviving anymore. You're actually looking forward to something. You may never find one grand answer explaining why you're here. Maybe nobody does. Maybe meaning isn't hidden somewhere, waiting for you to discover it. Maybe we create it ourselves, little by little, through the people we love, the things we make, the places we see, and the moments we decide are worth remembering. So if everything feels meaningless right now, don't assume that this feeling is the final chapter. You are allowed to be lost. You are allowed not to know.
