@doctor.painkiller: Migraine and ADHD: the connection you might not expect. Migraine rarely travels alone. Studies keep finding that people with ADHD are more likely to have migraine, and people with migraine are more likely to have ADHD — the overlap with autism is murkier but real enough to study. Nobody knows exactly why yet: shared genetics, shared brain wiring, maybe both. What we do know is that if you have one, it's worth paying attention to the other. Send this to the person you thought of at 0:04. Not medical advice — talk to your own doctor about your own brain. #migraine #doctor #neurology
Send this to someone who lives with both. They deserve to hear more than “just focus” and “just drink water.”

Is this the same for cluster headaches? I have ADHD, I get migraines all the time (this year has been the worst year for my migraines, since February I’ve been having two to three a month and I used to have maybe one or two a year) and I also have cluster headaches.

I had migraines a lot as a teen 14 -18 (pretty much high school). I'd be really sensitive to smells and sounds. The only thing that would sort is was to sleep for 12 - 14 hours. Looking back on it: that was probably meltdowns.

I have dealt with chronic migraines for absolutely years. the past month I have started medication for my ADHD and I haven't had a single migraine since! my ADHD made me feel very overwhelmed and tense all the time, do you think that tension finally being relieved has helped?

In my personal experience, the autism and ADHD traits can contribute to the migraine triggers such as sensory overwhelm and difficulty eating consistently or sleeping consistently .

why are you afraid of calling them disorders? that’s why they are. denying that is erasure. like you’re just further stigmatizing neurodivergence. I have ADHD and I’m not ”differently abled”, I’m not ”gifted”, I’m disabled. it’s called a disorder because it affects our quality of life.

I am AuDHD and my son has ADHD and we both have chronic migraines. I’ve been working with a neurologist for a while but I’m working to get him in with one now. Usually we get hit with headaches/migraines at the same times. We’re both extremely sensitive to pressure changes.

I think it is linked to hypermobility as well because it is linked to adhd and autism
