Abiola’s death on 7 July 1998. Al-Mustapha claimed that Abiola was murdered, and said he had video and audio recordings relating to what happened at Aguda House. He also stated that he was “technically present” through recordings, although he was not physically there when Abiola died. At the Oputa Panel, Al-Mustapha denied directly preventing Abiola from receiving medical treatment and suggested that the circumstances surrounding Abiola’s death were suspicious. However, this remains Al-Mustapha’s claim, not an established fact.
