@sophiahastings4444: After nearly three years in foster care, Mom completed every requirement and was approved for reunification. But the foster parents say returning the child would traumatize her because they’re the only parents she remembers. Are they protecting her—or standing between a mother and her child? 👀⚖️ #BeefCourt #FosterCare #FamilyCourt #ParentingDrama #TikTokJury

Former foster parent here. A little concerned it took 3 rears; standard is one year. But in the end, reunification is the goal. If mom’s rights were never terminated and is now a safe place, then kid needs to go with mom.

As a foster parent, if Mom is safe, sober and stable, that baby should be going home immediately. When we start the process of becoming foster parents we are told over and over that the goal is reunification whenever it's safe to do so. Does it hurt when a child you've loved and cared for for years leaves? Yep, hurts like hell. Will the child be sad and confused? Yes, just like they were sad and confused when they were removed. But the best long term outcome happens when reunified with birth parents. This is a big part of why I work so hard to build good relationships with the parents so that when the kids go home I can still provide support and help with child care and still see the kids so they don't think I abandoned them.

3 years! You have to consider that the best thing for the CHILD would be to stay put. Possibly give mom shared custody.

As a foster care social worker time is what’s important. In the state of Virginia, you have 12 months to get yourself together before we start the process of terminating your parental rights. That should be long enough because children need stability. If you’re showing progress at that 12 months, we can ask the court for an additional three, but you need to be showing serious progress of being able to provide yourself in your children, a safe and healthy home life.

The foster family messed up by not making it clear they were not her parents from the beginning. They should have been preparing that child from birth to go home to her real mother who consistently showed up and proved she wanted her.

She been with the Fparents for 3 yrs. She is bonded to the Foster parents. She needs to stay with them. Mom has the rest of her daughter’s life to be a mother. She needs to do what’s right for her child.

Fostering is temporary! If they can’t accept that then they shouldn’t be allowed to foster children!

It's like the kid is furniture. The foster parents were her primary family from her point of view.
