Added this Drake portrait to a leg sleeve for my bro @Alex F. Lucero One of the most important things when building a leg sleeve is creating a composition where every new piece connects to the work from the previous session. That can be done through the same type of filler, continuing similar filler design, or simply knowing how to morph two completely different ideas together in a way that makes sense instead of just filling the empty spaces with dark shading or black ink. Whether the whole leg is finished in a few months or over two years, the goal is for it to still look like one complete piece. That takes a lot of additional time in the design process, or simply having the skillset to freehand connections that are visually appealing and don’t look rushed. Especially with larger projects built over a long period of time, every new piece has to make sense with what is already there. You don’t want the final result to look like a bunch of different designs were placed around the body and then rushed together with filler in between, like a bunch of stickers on a laptop. The entire piece should feel intentional, connected, and make sense as one composition. That’s probably the biggest issue I see with larger projects, and one of the most common mistakes artists make when building them over time. That’s why I always take the extra time to think ahead and build something that will still make sense later, so the client ends up with the best possible final result. 💯 To book your next tattoo text 480-742-2556 Located in Phoenix, Arizona 📍 #tattoo #tattooartist #phoenix #arizona #realism
