The market often seeks areas where a large amount of stop-loss orders and pending orders are resting. 🔹 What is Liquidity? Liquidity can be found around obvious highs and lows where traders commonly place their stops. Buy-Side Liquidity (BSL) Usually rests above: Previous highs Equal highs (EQH) Swing highs Session highs Daily/weekly highs Sell-Side Liquidity (SSL) Usually rests below: Previous lows Equal lows (EQL) Swing lows Session lows Daily/weekly lows The market can move toward these liquidity pools before making its intended directional move. 🔹 Liquidity Sweep A liquidity sweep occurs when price reaches an area of liquidity, takes the resting stops, and then rejects or reverses. Example: SSL → Sweep → Displacement → MSS → Retracement → Entry Price runs below a previous low, triggers sell-side liquidity, then aggressively moves higher. The trader then looks for confirmation such as displacement, MSS, and a retracement into an imbalance or PD Array. A sweep is not simply “price touching a high or low.” The reaction after the liquidity is taken is important. 🔹 Liquidity Run A liquidity run is different. Instead of taking liquidity and immediately reversing, price continues through the liquidity level and keeps expanding, potentially targeting another pool of liquidity. Example: BSL → Break → Expansion → Next BSL Price takes a previous high and continues higher because the market is seeking additional liquidity. 🔥 Sweep vs Run Liquidity Sweep: Liquidity is taken → rejection/reversal → displacement in the opposite direction.
