Also, for self-defence the court will ask if there was any other option besides physically attacking your attacker. “Fight or flight” rule is real, the court will ask why did you not run away, phone the police, call for help. If flight isn’t an option then your fight must be equal to the attack, you can’t pull a knife out to a goat fight and you can’t pull a gun out to a knife fight.

Lol "go out there with a bat." You are also going to jail if you beat them with a bat over your car being broken into. Unfortunately there is very little you can do to defend your property without going to jail for a while. And unless you know who the person is, you're just screwed because the police are useless for this.

So what if I go out there with a bat or my fist while they are jacking my car and they pull out their own gun to shoot me? I’m not taking that chance. More than likely if the robber is jacking my car, they’ll have a gun on them as well.
