The Baltimore native studied at the Baltimore School of the Arts and was active in the city’s ballroom scene. Baltimore Safe Haven hosted a vigil for Lee on September 13 and launched a GoFundMe in her honor. Lee’s death came 11 weeks after the killing of another Black trans Baltimorean, 38-year-old Asia Williams, who was shot outside a convenience store on June 23 and later died at the hospital, according to Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents. Lee is now the 23rd trans woman killed in the United States this year, per Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents, with 13 of them Black trans women.
