This one felt significant. Two years ago I cried my eyes out because one of my friends told me she was going to Iceland. It was one of those I-know-this-is-not-the-worst-thing-about-being-ill-but-it-still-hurts moments. Iceland has always been a bucket list country for me, and at that time I was much too unwell to go. It’s not the kind of trip you can manage when you’re really unwell because it’s so outdoorsy and you get beaten about by the elements. I cried in my bed wondering if I’d ever be well enough again to go and enjoy walking/hiking around it. Fast forward to this year - I’ve been doing much better physically and have even been doing little runs again. A month ago I had to deal with a difficult life situation, and immediately after that an opportunity arose for me to go to Iceland last minute, which felt like a sign from the universe…so I took it. Being there felt so healing - to be in a place I’ve always wanted to be, after such a difficult few years of wondering if this sort of adventure would ever be possible again for me. It wasn’t as physically challenging as it might have been had I gone pre-LC, but that didn’t matter - what I could manage was more than enough. I couldn’t help thinking about crying in bed 2 years ago and how far I’ve come since then. I know I’m extremely privileged to be able to do this. I know so many people are still struggling with their health. I only hope that everyone gets their “wow look how far I’ve come” moment. However “small” it might seem to healthy people - getting out of bed, making a meal for yourself, being able to sit outside. What is small to other people is not small to us. Don’t lose the hope 🫶🏻 #iceland #icelandadventure #icelandtravel #travel #longcovidrecovery
