@annieworldpetsitter: Replying to @Kim Walsh my kids were thrilled with the steps I took to this next chapter of my life as a writer, solo female traveler, pet sitter, and wanderer. #solofemaletraveler #housesitting #petsitter #letswanderwaterbottle
I wish my mom would have done this. I am not looking forward to cleaning the hoard she will leave behind and she’s not having nearly as much fun as you. Moms need to take note.

Oh, I agree 100% with you! I have already given my three girls everything that there was gonna be left to them when I do die as far as furniture and belongings. There’s some jewelry they can figure out for themselves. There’s a couple pieces that the individuals know we’re supposed to be there and the others do too. I don’t have a lot. I’ve never needed a lot but what I have one of them to have they have.

I just sent my kids a message in large part because of you! I requested that they come over at the beginning of November for a crockpot dinner and Christmas sorting. I’m going to pull out all the decorations I have the day before and keep my very favorites to hang up. All the rest will be laid out on a spare table with a tote for each and fresh tissue paper. They can take the ones that are theirs (my mom gave them each one in a series every year) and any others they want. All the rest will be donated. I also asked that if they have anything of mine they want that they let me know in the next few months and the rest that I don’t use regularly I’m going to try to get rid of.

Why would grown kids care? Parents have a right to live their life.

I'm planning on traveling in an rv once my kiddo graduates high school! I'll happily get him settled into his own dorm/apartment, and holidays rent a big airbnb for the family to spend time together at. Come back every few months to spend time together. He says that sounds ideal to him.

I wish my mom did this…now instead I’m cleaning out her house and renting a dumpster. She passed at 80 and she should have done this. I told her so many times to just go…

My mom just did this, she sold her house this month and downsized (she’s also not a stuff person) all of us kids took what we wanted, and she’s moving into a bougie apartment with lots of amenities and no maintenance. We are so excited for her!

Let me tell you it’s hard when a stuff person marries a no stuff person. 😂 My husband is always afraid I’m going to throw out something “important “.

I’m of the Rubbermaid bin belief. Each kid has 2. When they’re officially out, it goes with them.

If my mom told me that I would totally be fine with that. She took care of my dad for a long time before he passed. I want her to enjoy her life. And go play.

We let our daughter and her husband come down and go through the house and take what thy wanted before we moved overseas. They took a lot of paintings and some antiques. I love that they are now a part of their home. She sends us pics and we see our old treasures in their new home and it's a warm feeling. Our friends took a lot and we sold the rest.

I lost both my parents 13 months apart. I was 45-46. It was hard to deal with everything after they were gone…it’s hard to make decisions on what’s important while you’re grieving and in shock. It’s been 13 years and I’m still trying to deal with some of the “stuff”.
