@casitahomes: Welcome to Casa Solai by architecture firm @studiosaxe - a stunning home that sits on a hilltops above the Pacific Ocean in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. The house is two volumes. One is anchored into the hill, holding the private bedrooms and service areas. The other appears to float above the jungle canopy and holds the social spaces, open to the breeze. A central open-air space connects the two, directing movement through the site while framing views of the jungle and ocean. The upper pavilion is wrapped in louvers of mosso bamboo that allow for cross ventilation and give the volume its weightless look. Glass, teak, and stone meet in clean transitions throughout, and the interiors use stone walls, handmade local tiles, and a dining table Studio Saxe designed for the project. The structure combines prefabricated steel frames with concrete plinths, which minimized site disturbance and improved seismic performance. Rainwater is collected and filtered on site, and energy needs are met through solar and passive design. Studio Saxe led the project for six years, from architecture through interiors!
