Josh’s mom :
Josh went home last October, holidays will never be the same, he’s our only child I’m grateful for the 27 years we had him, he was a big light in our family, we have nephews and niece that lost their 16 years before they look to us for family stuff but we went out of town for holidays… we couldn’t do or usual and I know they are hurting but idk if we can do it this year either, I felt guilty for not doing all the things my son loved during the holidays…. I just don’t know if I’ll be ready this year feels like we just lost him yesterday.. give yourselves some grace

I didn't quit holidays for my other children. I was not all into it, but I couldn't show my grief to them. I was showing them they can be strong because they lost their brother also. i know that god is watching over him. I'm happy I got those 8 years.i knew he's watching also. I do still hurt in my heart so bad it's been 23 years. I treasure my children and my grandchildren. I see him in theme

life is for the living. your person would not want to be the reason their is no Christmas this year. Honor them by showing up for the loved ones who are still here. As you know that can all change in a second.

I truly believe we should do all the traditional things and also add something new. Even if it hurts. We are still a family. The loss of our beloved daughter has taken enough and will always be our wound. But we should celebrate and honor her doing what we always do. But it is hard. So hard. 💙💚

I use to decorate everything for Christmas make cookies as a family. Now I only put a tree up for my grandkids. I don’t bake no more I absolutely hate the holiday season now. My son always use to buy me the best gifts and his favorite holiday was thanksgiving. I don’t let anyone make his favorite desserts anymore. I just put a mask on for the holidays and have frequent break downs

Holiday grief is so real. Thanksgiving, her birthday, Christmas, New Year’s, then her death anniversary follows three days after. It’s been two years and we still don’t celebrate holidays. But I look at my sweet boy, growing up.. and I’m missing out on celebrating him. So no matter how hard it’ll be, I’ll celebrate it for us. We live. We gotta find a different normal.. that doesn’t mean we won’t celebrate her or that she’s forgotten. We’ll eventually find a way to celebrate her too. Sending you so much love.

i lost my second son, 5 months ago . if someone ask me if i'm ok . i say i never truly be okay. but i know i have to because i'm a mother , i have another son. my first child also had a hard time losing his younger brother. we grieve the loss of our child forever, yet at the same time we must fight for our other children because they deseve to be happy. i pray for all of us grieving parents . may we all gradually find the strength to go on. the pain is unbearable . but may God strengthen us all

I’m not there yet my bby has only been gone 2 months but I would try to heal first and if they love you they’ll understand. Just let them know, communication is crucial. Tell them you’re not stopping them but you’re not ready

So sorry for your loss. I am happy for your husband that he is ready. Please do not feel guilty or torn. Your feelings matter too. Have you asked your other children how they would like to celebrate? They lost a sibling a part of their life too. No one grieves the same way. I do not celebrate the same but I am there for my other son and we celebrate things differently now. We never know how we feel with each holiday I wish you well Angel Momma. My thoughts are with you and your family 🤗.

It’s been 3 years since we lost our baby. She was 20 and impacted every person she knew. We also have three more children and grandchildren. We have to carry on for their sake to keep some sort of normalcy. Then feel guilty after. Not so much for her brothers and sister, they lost too. But we have to be happy for the grandbabies because they deserve nothing less.

The first Christmas after my son died, I didn’t do Christmas at all. That was last Christmas. This year maybe because I have my little grandkids, but I don’t feel like it. I’ve never feel like it again because there will always be that empty chair. 😭💔🫂🙏🏻🕊️

Our son’s favorite holiday was Christmas so on his birthday in Oct the tree goes up so we can take time decorating it and our daughter can help set it up for Patrick and share stories.

If he is ready tell him he can and he has to carry you. It is clear you do not have the emotional energy for decorating, shopping, cooking but he can do all that and you will show up. I could not grocery shop or cook for a whole year after my son died. I was triggered remembering what he liked, what he enjoyed. My husband took over. I am enjoying cooking again for all the others who are still here. Eventually we do need to make a decision to attend to the life that is left behind.
