+9 Elder Dr. Emmanuel Kwasi Mireku is an iconic Ghanaian gospel musician, songwriter, and ordained elder in The Church of Pentecost. With a career spanning over four decades, he is a pioneer of Ghanaian gospel music, renowned for his deeply spiritual, non-stop worship ministrations and over 500 songs. [1, 2] Early Life and Calling Born on January 12, 1961, in Koforidua, Ghana, Mireku grew up in a devout Christian home. His father was an ordained Elder and deeply involved in ministry. His musical and spiritual journey began in a highly unusual way: [1, 2, 3] The Vision: At age 12, Mireku had a vivid dream in which an angel placed a guitar on his lap and taught him how to play. Self-Taught Mastery: Upon waking, Mireku was determined to recreate the experience. He built his own makeshift guitar from plywood and hunting wire, eventually teaching himself how to play the guitar, piano, and accordion. [1, 2] Music Career and Ministry Elder Mireku began his music ministry in the late 1970s, making him one of the earliest and most recognizable voices in the modern Ghanaian gospel landscape.
