I thought they bred at least once to get there and the same on the way back so it isn't the same butterfly. I'll have to look into this again 🤔

In 1995 I was working as a plumbers mate and we removed a tank in somebody’s attic/loft. I can remember there being literally millions or dead butterflies, on the insulation floor and all stuck to the walls, every inch of the roof space was covered.. I mean millions .. the lady owner of the property said, they come there to die. Her mother parents said they have been there for over two hundred years up until that day I seen them in 1995…

It’s so remarkable that something so small and delicate can travel so far, they can’t pack extra sandwiches for the journey so they must have to stop regularly to feed. What if there’s storms? Just amazing 😵

The monarch butterfly uses a magnetic compass to guide its extraordinary migration thousands of km internal magnetic compass tied to light-sensitive proteins in their antennas

epigenetics maybe? seems to be a good possibility for explaining how information is stored in living beings through generations.

So the parents and grandparents only survive a few weeks going north but the offspring survive months on the way south, why is that?

Just as we sometimes instinctively know how to leave an unfamiliar street, our brains contain memories and information from our ancestors essential for species survival. This phenomenon is sometimes becomes Dejavue.
