my 1.5 year old child busted out the screen last night from pressing his body on it. I was right there and grabbed him so fast. first floor.. but I can only imagine.. something that's not talked about enough. keep spreading this message

Thank you for posting, I actually moved out of our house when our Daughter was born and she started walking, because we had a two-story with multiple windows and teenagers, and teenagers like their windows open, and we had a foyer on the second level that had short banister, that was right above a tile concrete flooring, and when she started walking, she was a climber,. The child can climb anything. I’m so thankful we moved out of that house.

So sorry for your loss. I wanted to add if your windows allow it, open them from the top. If you are trying to get a breeze it’s more efficient and also safer for children and pets to have the opening at the top of the window rather than the bottom. And as you said keep all furniture away from windows.

I had a very similar experience as a sibling my brother fell out of a 3 story apartment when he was about 3 and ended up in the hospital for a while so thank you for this!

I fell out of a window that was open because I pushed on the screen standing on the couch as a child. I was BADLY injured. So sorry for your loss. ❤️My husband came into a hotel room 12 stories high after house cleaning had left the window with no screen open. My children were near the open window until my husband heard the cars below because a curtain was hiding it. I about had a heart attack and immediately told the hotel how dangerous that was. Definitely needs to have more awareness!

CHILD PROOOOF … get it online just Google it or Amazon it I hate Jeff Bezos, but I still use Amazon. It’s OK to crack your windows, but you need child proofing clips or whatever you call them and then you should be fine.
