Overwhelmed with trip planning? 😩 Yeah, it’s a beast. But I truly believe that putting the work into PLANNING is the key to successful trip with little kids. Here’s my step-by-step process for planning an epic kid-friendly trip ✈️ 1. GENERAL RESEARCH 🔎 • Google sample itineraries and guides to help get a basic overview of things to see & do • Use Pinterest to visually search for interesting places and start a Pinterest board to save blog posts + pictures • Check local Instagram accounts and search for destination specific hashtags 2. USE GOOGLE MAPS 🗺️ • Start a new LIST on Google Maps for your trip, and as you’re researching, save everything to it • Add notes to saved items to help you remember where you found the recommendation or any special tips/info • Include grocery stores, playgrounds, parks, restaurants, smoothie shops and kid-friendly dining options • After you’ve saved everything, zoom out and see where most of your pins are located. Use this to help you identify neighborhoods & then choose one of these areas per day to explore. You can then further research each area for photo locations, prettiest walking streets, shops, and cafes. 3. BOOK IMPORTANT THINGS ✨ • Book your tours, workshops and experiences - with little ones it’s best to do private tours or research look up kid-friendly tours. Don’t limit yourself to only kid-centric things, it’s okay to do things that YOU want to do (think wine tour, hike, etc) • Arrange transportation with car seats • Book a photoshoot (use code MINIJETSETTER for $25 off) • Research nanny agencies and book a babysitter for a parents night out • Make dinner reservations 4. SEARCH FOR EVENTS 🎭 • Check event calendars to see if there is anything special happening during your trip • Also check for farmer’s markets or other weekly events and put into your itinerary so you can plan around them, e.g. Portobello Market in London 5. MAKE AN ITINERARY 📍 • Use a spreadsheet to create a rough itinerary, planning around booked activities or events. • With young kids, plan the day after a busy outing to include downtime or scheduled nap so you’re not overdoing it ✨ Don’t forget to SAVE for your next trip!
