You can put metal bowls in the microwave. Just as long as it’s a smooth continuous surface without any edges or rivets or anything, the current will freely circulate in the metal and it won’t heat up

FYI most people use parchment paper liners in the air fryer instead of aluminum. So maybe try that if you’re trying to reduce cleanup next time.
