@elenaajoyce: recharging in the forests of hokkaido, japan 🥺 so happy to be back in this beautiful country, this time planning our trip around the lush nature of the north with @JAPAN AIRLINES【公式】! most people stick to the classic tokyo-kyoto-osaka route, but flying to hokkaido feels like a completely different side of japan that’s so quiet, peaceful, and full of local hidden gems. We traveled with JAL from new york to tokyo in their new business class, then onward to sapporo, and getting a full night’s sleep + having the best hospitality made such a difference to start out the trip! from sapporo, it was an easy, scenic drive into Jozankei, a little town inside shikotsu-toya national park. we spent the most perfect few days staying in a traditional japanese home, hiking through stunning forests, soaking in natural hot springs, and enjoying the incredible local summer produce. and this is just the first part of the trip! next, we’re taking a JAL regional flight straight into the remote wilderness of shiretoko national park!
