The extra lego pieces is bc the set is weighed so yeah you could use them if you lost any but i found that every lego set has different extra pieces even if it is the same set so they add them to make the lego set the exact weight it needs to be

I just put the extras in a ziplock bag and put it under the castle since there’s like two empty spaces so I just use it as storage
