People don’t understand how his color blindness works. He says the emerald was “a dark grayish red, mostly gray, sometimes red things are gray." He doesn’t really see green things as red. He can’t really tell green and red apart and relies mostly on context. In real life, people with red-green colorblindness (called deuteranopia) see reds and greens as shades of beige. The show purposefully shows it wrong for the audience when that’s not what Finn saw either.

Well he’s presumably red-green colorblind so he only really sees in the blue & yellow spectrums so he probably sees the lich as yellows & grays

I think this was more of a one time bit, like his colorblindness is never implemented ever again. Personally I think the gem was just magic towards him

Well given the mans like red green color blind to an extreme. The tree house is almost entirely red, and so is most of Ooo. Bubble gums kindom, given its almost entirely pink and white, is the only normal looking place fins ever been too. The man was seeing green as fully red. Like normally its shades of colors, not an entire set if colors being swapped

Red green colorblind means that green and red would be essentially interchangeable both of them would be a variation of gray that's very similar hence the reason in that episode when he finds the big gem repeatedly calls at a ruby and gets into an argument with a creature about it being an emerald✨ I only remember this so well because I know people who suffer from milder cases and it was really fun to see it expressed so nicely in media💜
