@mydaviscalifornia: Practicing magic tricks, drinking beers, and somehow still getting to Sacramento faster than I 80 traffic. 😎🚆 We genuinely think more people in Davis should be using Amtrak. The Davis station is right downtown, and Sacramento is basically one stop away. Instead of sitting on the Causeway wondering why you decided to drive, you can actually use that time to do whatever you want. Read a book. Answer emails. Listen to music. Practice magic tricks for some reason. Grab a snack or drink from the café car. Stare dramatically out the window. It's your time. And once you get to Sacramento, the station puts you within walking distance of DOCO, Old Sacramento, Golden 1 Center, and plenty of places to eat and drink. The Crocker Art Museum isn't far either, so it's really easy to turn the train ride into a full day trip. Tickets are pretty affordable, and Amtrak also offers discounts for eligible students, seniors, military members, and other groups. But our favorite perk is still avoiding I 80 traffic AND Sacramento parking. Davis to Sacramento without touching your car. We should probably be doing this more often.
