@saltsugarandstories: I stepped outside to thaw out before I did my Good Morning video because it is FREEZING in this house… and somehow I just now noticed what is happening around our pool. 😂 We planted these at the same time, in the same area, at the beginning of summer. The ones on one side look basically the same as the day we planted them. And then you look over to the other side and JACK AND THE BEANSTALK has entered the chat. 😂😂 These things are taller than the deck and about to take over the whole pool! They aren’t getting any more water. They all desperately need water because we haven’t had rain. I don’t even understand how they could be getting THAT much more sun. Somebody who knows plants, please tell me what in the world is happening here. The Banana plants difference could be exposure to light at different times of day. I bet the big ones are shaded in the afternoon. It also could be if you are on septic-your lines might run beside the big ones.

any plants in question, you can open Google lens, and just point your camera at them and snap a photo, and it will tell you what they are. I use it all the time! Try that, you will have fun with it!

Those are Mexican patinas by the stairs. Some people call them shooting patinas. They will die back in winter and come back in the spring. They like water. Everything looks like it needs feeding. Use 8-8-8 fertilizer. You can get it at the feed store. Broadcast it out around your plants every spring, summer and fall. Do feed during winter.

Those flyers at the end of your stairs are Mexican petunias I have them all over my yard, everywhere is the purple bloom drops is supposed to be where another one will grow and for the most part it does

It’s could be the different locations. The smaller ones could be in the sunlight more than the other ones.

Maybe the big ones get more shade and not so much sun. Maybe they do better in the shade.

It’s all about the sun. They need lots of sun. We have banana plants that have spread from 3 plants to probably 20 plants. My sister got some of ours & planted them around her pool. Her’s didn’t grow at all. Hers were more in the shade because she had big shade trees. FYI one year it rained a lot. That year they produced small bananas.
