@amaniuppal: It’s almost been a year since I lost my dad, and somehow, as that day gets closer, I find myself becoming more emotional with every passing day. I’m also getting closer to the time when I’ll be going back home, and that thought hits differently this year. I know I’ll walk through the same doors, see the same streets, the same home I used to return to… but it won’t feel the same anymore. Because the person who made that place feel like “home” won’t be there. I keep thinking about all those times I went home knowing my dad would be there. I never imagined there would come a day when I’d go back and he wouldn’t be. Maybe that’s what grief is—you keep living, you keep going, but some part of you is always waiting to see them again. Dad, I miss you more than words can ever explain. And as the first anniversary of losing you gets closer, I think I’m finally understanding that I’m not just missing you… I’m missing the life I had when you were still here. ❤️‍🩹
