My friend just looks at them and says she was born without a working uterus, so she can't have kids. She has also said due to a childhood accident, her uterus was damaged and had to be removed. If they push it and ask if she ever thought of adopting, she tells them, with a scary kind of eye contact and little smirk, she can't pass the psychological evaluation to be approved to foster or adopt. She's got that psycho-stare down to a science.

My parents had kids because "it was just what you did." I kid you not. I asked my mom a couple of years ago if she had wanted kids and that was her answer. I asked because she was 20 when she had her first. She graduated high school in 1977, had my sister in 1979, and me in 1981, followed by 2 more several years later. I actively chose to have my kids. But I grew up feeling unwanted. Mine didn't. And yes, I do know that, because of the relationships we have. If you don't want to have kids, it's OKAY! There's nothing wrong with being the auntie to all your friends' kids.
