Pinkfink❌️ :
Im a retired RN (I quit my career to care for her at my house). Mom is Silent Generation, 88yrs. Narcissistic, wears a mask because everyone had to be perfect. Perfect family, perfect dresses, etc. She fell broke her hip shortly after my dad died. He had begged me to not ever put her into Long term care. I had to sell her house and she moved in with us for 4 years. It was the worst 4 years of me and my husband's life. She was manipulative, nasty, smug. I was shocked because that is when her mask came off. I didn't know her true personality. My husband worked, it became too hard for me to lift her wheelchair in and out of the car. She could walk with walker at home but barely. She had on a brief and I would still take her to bathroom every 2 hours, yet she would soak her brief and dress in her recliner, after she came back from bathroom. I would give her a bath every other day and she would poop in the shower. She was forgetful but, not dementia. She would say, "well I felt like I had to go but you were rushing me into the shower". I got to the point of exhaustion. I got covid, flu A and then pneumonia all within the same week. She caught the Covid and went to ER. once better, she went to a Skilled Nursing Facility. That was 8 months ago. She has what's called a Humana Legacy plan where they pay 365 days at zero copay for a SNF. I have fought and won 3 level 2 appeals and I am currently fighting the 4th. I've had peace for 8 months. I am going to keep her there on Humanas dime to the very last day of the 365. Then she will be staying as a paying Long term care. NEVER THROW AWAY YOUR RETIREMENT YEARS taking care of these nasty parents. You do not HAVE to bring them to your home. Tell the social worker its an unsafe discharge plan and you refuse.
