At 36, I woke up one day and painted a wall in my house blue. I hung artwork, put down rugs, started decorating. Cried for months. I had owned my home for several years already. It was the best feeling ever.

I like this perspective. I’m the opposite - coming from childhood CPTSD. I grew up longing for a place that actually felt like home. Safe. A place I saw myself in. So now as an adult my home is my sanctuary and very much celebrates my journey.
