Low labor share means your purchasing power is lower. Shifting money out of workers' pockets and into capital reserves will reduce aggregate consumer spending. The wealthy don’t spend, they hoard.

Im 53, I’ve been welding for 32 years. 27 of those years have been with the company I currently work for. I can confirm in my case, this has been the least rewarding time. Yep, I make more money every passing year while everything has gotten more expensive at a much higher rate. I’ve never been this broke

This decrease can also be contributed mostly to statistical noise (incorrectness in the calculations)

So people feel poorer because their money has less purchasing power than our parents and grandparents all while those same things they were able to afford with less money than we make are far more expensive even adjusting for inflation to the point we can't afford it. That absolutely makes this the least rewarding time to have a job. You can buy less for more money, while your parents could buy more with less money. It's not fucking rocket science.

if the total output goes up but wages stay the same or increase slower then the output then that is literally a loss for the workers 😭
in crayon terms
imagine you make crayons. if you make 10 crayons in a hour and you get 20$ for your wage realtive to your output is much higher then someone who makes 40 crayons and gets payed 30$.

It also doesn't account for income for small business owners that have "pass through" entities like S Corps or Partnerships. It also doesn't account for pay in the form of stock options or equity grants. Both of those things are vastly more common today than 30 years ago.

you're missing the larger problem. a smaller percentage of a larger whole means everything is more expensive but spending power is lower. if labour share doesnt track with growth, thats poverty growth in action
