There’s something about a piece of Southern land that doesn’t have to be perfectly manicured to be beautiful. Young pines coming up wherever they can find the sunlight. Tall grass, briars, old trees, uneven ground, and nothing around but woods and blue sky. To some people, it might just look like an overgrown patch of land. But if you grew up around places like this, you know better. You see hunting trails, childhood adventures, old property lines, places somebody’s granddaddy used to walk, spots where deer cross before daylight, and woods that seem to change every single year. You can clear the land, cut the timber, weather a storm, or leave it alone for a while — and somehow nature starts taking it back. That’s what I love about the South. It doesn’t always have to be mountains, beaches, big cities, or some picture-perfect destination. Sometimes home looks like a field full of young pine trees on a warm afternoon. And there’s something pretty special about watching land grow. Those little pines won’t always be little. Give them enough years and this entire view will change. What’s wide open today may eventually become thick woods again. Makes you think about life a little bit too. We spend so much time worrying about where we are right now that sometimes we forget we’re still growing. The place you’re standing today isn’t necessarily what it’s going to look like ten years from now. Neither are you. 🌲 Give it time. Keep growing. Stay close to your roots. There’s just something about Southern woods, pine trees, backroads, bottomland, and country that still feels like home. Who else could spend all day out somewhere like this and be perfectly happy? #bottomland #HARDY #pinetree #rurallife #smalltownlife
