Update I brought him back 😢 safe to say I was a mess. BUTTT I am a broke college student, in a sorority and in nursing school. I would love to keep Bridge he is the sweetest most gentle loving baby but there’s so many factors I have to consider. I think I’m going to do short term foster (less than a week) with him and then possibly long term foster!!

I’m a vet student and used to work as a foster coordinator at a shelter, and I promise this is SO good for him!!! Dogs don’t have the ability to think, “I have a home now.” They just know they had a really great day. Plus, a good outing can improve their behavior at the shelter and often helps them get adopted faster! I can’t tell you how many times we sent a dog who had been at the shelter for months on a field trip, only for them to get adopted the very next day. You did a good thing ☺️Also, any notes and pictures you can give the shelter are super helpful in finding him the right home!

Omg these comments are actually crazy. Girl you did a great thing giving him a little break from the shelter and everyone saying this is “mean” or “wrong” don’t have the heart to go volunteer let alone adopt a dog themselves

i will happily send money if that’s what you need. he’s found his person. remember being in a crate while you’re at work or in class is 10x better than being in a crate at the shelter 23 hours a day

people don’t understand that dogs are HIGH MAINTENANCE. it is WAYY better for someone to recognize that they can’t provide for an animals needs and wait until they can than to adopt an animal and neglect it??

Girl I’m sorry about the negative comments you’re getting. I posted a similar video about day fostering a dog and people are so quick to point accusatory fingers at you as if you put the dog in the shelter yourself. You did a GREAT thing for his mindset, you’ve done something that is PROVEN to make these dogs less stressed and more adoptable. I’ve worked and volunteered in the dog industry for years and the rescues love when I day-foster for them. He does not see you taking him back as a betrayal. Dogs have emotions but not the same ones that we do. Thank you for getting him out for the day.

Why mess with his brain? Don’t even take him out to do that. I personally believe that animals have emotions and they remember things just like we do and for people to do this just to send them back can be traumatizing
