Buuuuuut doctors took an oath right?!? There needs to be some level accountability (without violence) for physicians who stoop to level of harming patient care to save money for an insurance company.

I used to be a Medicare sales agent with Humana. I was under the misguided impression that I could do some good from within. first year wasn't too bad but the second all the good plans I was touting the first year got seriously downgraded and screwed over every member I had convinced to trust me with their Medicare sign up. they tie our hands so there's really nothing we can do about it. the second year I worked for them I sold exactly zero policies and I just soaked up the salary until they decided to let me go. every one of these companies is predatory.

I work for an insurance company and I think I do a good job. I’m an RNCM and I help people every day. Insurance companies are huge and as much as prior authorization and denials piss me off they do actually have programs that help in a lot of ways. It’s just the CEOs. The corporate shareholders. The top of the top that make me angry because they get their money no matter what. Even if it means laying off half the company. At the end of the day I just want to be able to help people care for my family and pay my bills. Sadly no matter how hard I work or how good I am at my job. I know I’m just a number. But honestly. That’s true for ANY job these days.

Ironically, the person who did the root cause analysis of this problem was a rogue Republican: the late Senator John McCain. The problem, in his words, is “the corrupting influence of money in politics.” Citizens United. Insurance companies spend gajillions on lobbying, they rig the rules in their favor. The solution is simple. Not easy, but simple: Vote Blue, expand the Supreme Court. Repeal Citizens United. Strengthen anti trust laws and white collar fraud laws. Medicare4All
