So for me I write my lyrics or write a poem and put them in ChatGPT and say would this make a good song? If so I finish writing and have ChatGPT clean it up for me and fix grammar. Then I use Suno to make the song using my lyrics and descriptions. Then I listen to it until I know the song enough to sing it myself. Then I use the music background and my voice singing the song to make the song. I honestly would like to have real musician make the track music but I don’t know how to do that and everyone I have reached out to hasn’t answered. I don’t know how to play an instrument yet I’m still working on my singing

According to your logic, a film director is not an artist. In most cases, he doesn’t run the camera and frame the shots, he doesn’t act, make costumes, paint sets, etc. I’ll let you call Spielberg and tell him you don’t think he’s an artist.

I call myself hybrid... I use a.i. to learn 5 months ago I couldn't write a song now everything is organic written. it has encouraged me to get a step farther in FL studios and create my own beats and melodies it challenged me to be better at mixing and mastering stems. so maybe not musician but music produce?

Dude... you can upload your own songs. I've been a songwriter for 20 years, I've sold my music, toured overseas, and spent countless hours writing songs. Are you seriously telling me I'm not a musician now, even though I have experimented putting my own work through AI? Does that somehow mean it's no longer my work or that it no longer counts as a musician's work? The answer is NO by the way Your logic is flawed.

I’m not a musician at all. I don’t claim to be. I mean I play piano by ear, but I never used MY instruments or mechanically play. I have over 1,000 songs that didn’t work out to sound good. I don’t think I need to have a label for what I do. I just say I have this project. My Spotify says it’s AI. Lyrics are 100% done by myself and only myself. I’ve been writing since my little emo depressive days 20 years ago. AI music, to me, is music. Sure, a program generated the sound, but it’s a different form of music. Prompting is the hardest thing because the line between metalcore and deathcore and punk and nu metal are just a few words. I also mix and master my own music. Changing the feel, leveling out everything, fixing mud, etc. I have hundreds of DM’s and comments from people saying “thank you for putting words to how I feel or have felt.” That’s emotional connection, which is the intent behind music.

We are looking everything from the point of view of a songwriter, but we forget that most musicians are not songwriters. Absolutely the most are instrumentalists or vocalists, are perfectly capable of bringing a song to life, but are no songwriters. If you want to make money from music? Play covers. Tribute bands/ cover bands are making the most money.

Wait, I'm not even gonna watch the video.I'm assuming you're gonna say a I musicians are musicians. If there's a person behind the work in some way or another to be in the song or help make the song work, like, say if I make a guitar and vocals, but I want some drums and maybe my vocals to be like a woman is that an AI artist or is it more? Complex like I can just let it be AI entirely but I have to put some type of idea in it to make it unique.

This reminds of the argument back in 2010 on if digital art is art and if those artist are artist that when they got label digital artists I think the same thing will happen with AI. I will say though some AI music is not fully the AI they maybe using just the voice or have AI make the sounds but the person who made it wrote everything they just don’t have skill or confidence to do it. Which is okay.

OK, I used to be a chef. I still cook in my kitchen. Can I still call myself a chef? Yes, I used to be a Mercedes tech. Do I still work on cars occasionally? Did I learn how to play guitar? Yes, did I learn how to draw traditionally and then later in procreate? Yes I’ve also been a roofer a framer. I’ve pumped concrete. I’m a retired DJ and I traditionally produced music through Ableton. Just because I use AI now. Doesn’t make me any less of an artist.

Hold on … It’s friends on what you mean by using Ai on music. Be specific and clear here ! If you’re talking about those who ‘prompt write’ songs into existent, then I agree. If you’re talking about ‘musicians’ and ‘songwriters’ who use Assistive Ai as a production tool in your process, then no. To be clear, Assistive Ai is now almost standard within the music industry today.
