@ryanfazioct: The only thing missing from the governor’s press conference on energy policy was…the governor… …and the energy policy. So we’re offering to help. Today we called on the governor to take four steps to provide immediate relief to electric bills. Families and business owners, like Hector Roldan in New Britain, are struggling to keep up with the cost of energy and are forced to make difficult, costly decisions after 8 years of Lamont. With the right leadership, we’ll start making Connecticut more affordable on day one. And this is how we’ll do it: 1. Refund rising Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative tax revenues to customers, saving tens of millions per year. 2. Stop purchasing and signing any new energy contracts that subsidize private energy companies above the market price for energy, saving tens of millions per year more. 3. Prepare litigation against New York State for blocking expanded access to clean-burning natural gas. 4. Allow all nuclear and hydro energy to count toward the Renewable Portfolio Standard to cut bills by hundreds of millions of dollars per year.
