I miss the good ol days when weddings were where all family and friends get together and having a great time celebrating together. It was a time of pure and genuine happiness and that tbh is truly felt when you have your close family and friends. Imagine the most important missing this once in your life event just because their kids weren’t allowed (who could be nieces and nephews). I don’t know. We’ve replaced family value and genuine love for esthetics and fake vibes. Even if the marriage doesn’t last in the end, Atleast you would have had core memories with your loved ones.

On the reverse, the couple cannot get upset if guests with kids cannot attend … I had that situation due to lack of childcare and they said I should’ve tried harder to find a sitter 🫠

When I’m invited to a wedding, even if my kids are invited, I don’t take them. That’s an opportunity for my husband and I to have a date night.

Even if my kids are invited I try to find a babysitter because I want to enjoy the night too without chasing my kids!

We had close family friends who refused to parent their child at gatherings and she always ran wild making everyone uncomfortable. So even though everyone else had very well behaved children we chose to make our reception child-free so we wouldn’t have to deal with her!

One of my really good friends texted me the night before my wedding that her baby was coming 😬 it made me feel bad to say no, but they got a sitter last minute and still were able to come for a bit but we had an entire conversation in advance about it so I was so confused

In addition to weddings when we were growing up, we didn’t go everywhere with our parents. We stayed home with our grandparents or older siblings. I was at a fancy bar recently, a couple were there with their infant and toddler. Where does it end?

I never understand people who fight this. I don’t want to have to chase my kids all dressed up for a wedding.

All you need to do is watch a lot of the children on TikTok to know why some couple say no children.

Totally agree! We had no kids at our wedding because it was a Saturday night event. One brother-in-law didn’t come to the reception because he couldn’t bring the kids – oh well.

👏👏👏 Event designer and coordinator here, she is spot on. We deal with this constantly. On the flip side, we also advise clients to be understanding of guests who may not attend because of this decision. It is okay on both sides.

I have no problem with no children at weddings. I did however have a problem when we got an invitation to a family member’s wedding (my husband’s family) that was addressed to my husband and me and TWO of our four children. Excuse me what? There was some reasoning given about over a certain age or whatever, which I can get but you absolutely do not invite 2 siblings and exclude the other 2. The invitation should have only been extended to me and my husband in that instance to avoid that major faux pas. My husband went, the rest of us stayed home.
