I think the point people are missing are theyre taking out a loan which should cover their accommodation. the fact that a loan for students cant cover the student built accommodations is concerning. The loan is there to help students so they dont have to work while at university, especially if they dont have help from parents. So yes while they can work to pay their bills, there should be the option not to.

they broke traditional student flats by removing fixed term lets and then allowing mass development of PBSA by offshore companies. All shifting the profit to corporations

Absolutely ridiculous! Their student digs costs more than my mortgage and I've got a detached house with a big garden and a garage! And I never had a job at uni, I worked in the summers to get beer money but my loan covered my accommodation, books, and food etc.

My daughter is looking at a £6k defecit. She’s only entitled to £5k maintenance loan. I didn’t know she couldn’t get 100% for accomodation.
