@dariusryankadem: You’re making one big mistake If your child is scared of something And you say things like "Don’t be scared it’s ok It’s just a little goat he won’t hurt you Give him a little scratch, he’s friendly" The mistake is you're trying to make the fear smaller because you think he's misjudged the goat, and you see it as an overreaction that needs fixing. But he's not overreacting. He sees a strange animal, as big as him, that moves fast and has no concept of personal space he simply can't predict what the goat will do next. He doesn't need you to make the goat less scary. He doesn't need you to make him less scared. He needs you to hold it while he's scared. He was neither fully fearful nor fearless. He was cautious and curious. But it’s curiosity that lets him get close enough to find out he’s safe. If you find you're reactive when your child experiences fear or distress, this is what I help other parents with inside my private community. Go to my link in bio to join with a free 7 day trial.
That’s why i quit being dad and left my children. Too many sweats.

How do you develop such sympathy? I feel like it must be easier if you have good memory of how you acted and reacted as a child

why the hell aren't lessons like this mandatory for any expecting parents to be taught? we need classes for things like this, even if its just a week or two of parenting lessons

I don’t see how this is any better than a simple “he doesn’t want to hurt you, he’s just hungry”

How do you choose what to think or say? Can a deaf parent be a good parent? Maybe I'm thinking too much.
