The comparison is also a great way to observe national strategy, positioning, and messaging. In safe blue states/districts, the optimal outcome is every single one should be filled with progressives. We can elect some more progressive candidates in some districts down here; but not always. Sometimes we end up with someone more moderate than we’d like…but they still add to the overall majority. That’s part of the process of getting where we need to go

I remember seeing someone complain about Doug Jones getting nominated. He actually has a chance (small as it may be) to win. Someone further left of him would have a tougher time winning. I hope we get to the point where that is not the case.

I live in TN. My observation is that the GOP barely has to campaign here, they just keep getting elected. The dems, for the most part, work their butts off knocking doors, trying to connect with voters etc..

I live in the IE in Southern California. It sometimes feels like a mini red state. But I do have the “comfort” factor of knowing that LA and the Bay Area will vote blue. And the Republicans here are only too happy to enjoy the benefits of “commie” California.

So in a red Midwest state, gay democrats have worries about our neighbors with guns…some are ok, some are mad if we wear a democrat tshirt. We rent so we can’t put a yard sign up for our candidates cuz it could get us kicked out of our home. We don’t do purity politics, but it would be nice to be picky 😏
