@ameliasahm03: ok so i need to preface this by saying i did NOT have any of this figured out when we came home from the hospital lmaoo like i thought the hard part was the birth and then they just handed me this tiny human and were like ok byeee good luck!! and i genuinely stood in my living room the first night like. now what. nobody sat me down and said hey before you get too sleep deprived to function, here are the actual logistics you need to handle. like yes you need diapers and wipes and a bassinet we KNOW that. but nobody mentioned calling to schedule your own postpartum appointment before you leave because spoiler if you wait until week 3 when you're barely surviving you are not making that call. and nobody mentioned that adding a baby to your taxes is a whole thing you have to actually do. and the guardian thing??? i didn't even think about that until my mom casually asked who would take the baby if something happened to us and i just stared at her like a deer in headlights for 45 seconds straight. the beneficiary thing hit different too bc i had my mom listed on everything from when i was 22 and single and i didn't update a single thing until my husband pointed it out. like our daughter literally could not have inherited anything because her name was nowhere. and ok the beacon thing i have to mention because honestly the first few weeks i was just up alone at 3am convinced i was the only person in the world awake and struggling and beacon shows you in real time that there are other moms up at the exact same time as you. it sounds small but when you're that sleep deprived and emotional it actually matters so much. you can see the little lights of other mamas and it just feels less lonely. the 529 took me way too long because i kept thinking i needed to have a real amount of money to open one. you don't. it just needs to exist. five dollars. that's it. future you will add more. save this for when you're still pregnant bc trust me you will not have the brain capacity to figure this out after 😭🤍 #mom #MomsofTikTok #momlife #baby #newborn
