I might need some help, because I'm definitely the "bludgeon them with facts and hopefully they'll see" kinda presence, though that definitely feels like digging at cement with a plastic spoon most times. I exist at the back end of my own logic trails and call the turns I've taken out to those still working on getting to where I am, but generally everyone I disagree with has started at a different trailhead and don't have any real way of getting over to where we are from where they started. For example, nobody in human history has ever asked to be born, we just each arrive in the middle of our own generational relay race, we partially have the choice to pick up the torch of one of our family members or we can pick up someone else's (think research) and continue their work instead. One of the many problems with this is that we have 0 input into who we're raised by, who they know, what resources they have, what work they've done personally to understand the universe we're all thrown into, whether they've embraced or moved past their initial ego and all the associated things that come with either, what our genetic predispositions are, what our regional cultures are, etc.. Based on those grounds, it makes a ton of sense to me for equity and socialism to be the foundations of society, because we all start in different places with different upbringings from different people, so meeting people where they're at in an effort to get us all on the same page, or at least having diverse resources and programming available to accomodate the individual journeys toward a common understanding. Theoretically science is that thing, but the ill will of so many different interests in our collective past have ruined a lot of it and I can't find compassion for the people that have drank the kool-aid anymore, anyone that says "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" unironically, becomes less than dirt in my eyes because oftentimes they're old enough that being in that headspace is a choice, and they've chosen to shit all over the future generations ability to exist, whether through ignorance or just being subhumanly evil. Is it worth trying to fix individuals over thousands of futures?
