A Variation - age 56, October 14, 2025, 10:21 am ⚠️CAUTION: THIS VIDEO IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. THE ACTION(S) SHOWN CAN BE DANGEROUS OR FATAL. PLEASE VIEW WITH DISCRETION. When I was 16, I broke my right shoulder playing football, and I had to have surgery that turned my bicep into a chest muscle, and that was all held together by a stainless steel screw. 40 years later, the surgery was effective in preventing my shoulder from dislocating, but it created muscular imbalances that apparently affected that shoulder in a way where much of the cartlidge is now gone. This exercise and the variation I’m demonstrating strengthens my shoulder joint while improving stability and control through new and restricted ranges of motion. By combining light weights with spinal rotation, I improve rotator cuff activation and joint glide while activating new tissue. This variation also helps me improve my internal and external shoulder rotation by taking slack out of the connective tissue in my torso, and that helps me access safer and more helpful ranges of motion that translate well to performance and more importantly, daily comfort. If you decide to try this, you might notice an immediate change in the internal rotation component of the exercise. Treat that the way you treated this exercise the way you first treated it in it’s unmodified version by going slow and earning the range of motion rather than just taking it. If you focus on the process of doing this only in the range of motion that is easy to get into and easy to get out of, then the range of motion will expand, and you should now be able to do the regular version of this exercise with less shrugging at the shoulder. Love and Aloha.
