@onlyoshua: #wizardofoz #creepypasta #warnerbros #horrortok #fypage On the set of the film classic *The Wizard of Oz* (1939), there were extremely hazardous conditions, serious accidents, and the exploitation of the actors. Makeup-related poisoning: Buddy Ebsen, the first actor to play the Tin Man, inhaled pure aluminum powder from his silver makeup. He suffered severe respiratory distress and spasms, ended up in the intensive care unit, and had to be replaced. His successor, Jack Haley, also complained of eye and bronchial problems. Asbestos as artificial snow: In the famous poppy field scene, pure, carcinogenic asbestos was used as artificial snow. The Hanged Man Myth: A persistent rumor claims that a little person (Munchkin) can be seen hanging himself on the set in the background of a scene.
