@lostinhangeul6: When I first started learning Korean, I thought 괜찮아요 meant “I’m okay”, 좀 meant “a little” and 뭐 simply meant “what” 🥲 And technically… none of that is wrong. But the more Korean I listened to, the more I realized that these simple textbook translations only tell you a small part of how these words are actually used. Words like 그냥, 혹시, 돼요 or 그럼 suddenly started showing up EVERYWHERE and sometimes the English translation I had memorized didn’t make any sense in the context 🙈 I think this was a big lesson for me: don’t get too attached to one English translation of a Korean word.
