The comments come days ahead of a planned meeting with leaders from six Gulf nations — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman — on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Trump said he wants to hear directly from those allies before deciding whether to push for renewed diplomacy or resume large-scale military operations, since regional buy-in would be needed if he chooses to escalate. He declined to say whether the decision will come before or after the midterms.
