I think what Curry means by Nikki “not being possessed” he means it’s not really a “separate” entity in the usual sense. In a way they ARE two different people, but not like, literally. I think the idea is that everything post-wish Nikki does is kind of run through a filter invented by a wish. Nikki doesn’t think of herself as the same person because they aren’t, Nikki would not do the things she is doing if not for the wish. Essentially, the wish takes Nikki’s ability to choose, it doesn’t formally create a new person. It’s a weird distinction that might sound kinda pointless, but I think the reason Curry emphasizes it is because there’s a difference between a sort of Wish Demon taking over your body, and you being forced to do things you wouldn’t otherwise do. In the second case, you’re attached to the things you’re forced to do in a unique way, meaning that Bear has inflicted that much worse a burden on Nikki than if she were “possessed” in the traditional way

People do out of character things while under the influence of substances or in compromised mental states. I assume it's like than rather that possession. However, Nikki and the audience would reasonably rationalize it as possession. It looks like a duck and quacks like a duck

I think he means that it’s not an outside entity that comes in. Nicole is a tiny piece of Nikki, the wish cuts that part out, blows it up 100x, and replaces all of Nikki with that piece that you call Nicole

spoiler alert: I actually really loved that bear was a coward through and through because it's a consistent character trait. he isn't willing to tell Nikki that he loves her. gets a wishing Willow from a place that he doesn't believe in the magic at all. wishes for her to love him out of frustration notices she is acting weird is to much of a coward to bring it up and do anything. then almost every bad thing is because he's to much of a coward and in the end he chooses the coward way again and almost gets nikki killed too. people make him out to be a villain but he really wasn't. he didn't seek out to exploit her he is visibly uncomfortable with it through and through he isn't celebrating that he did this he is disgusted and distraught but is to scared to fix it.
